If you’re the nostalgic type, it’s time to grab a few handkerchiefs and wave goodbye to the old Ketchum City Hall.
Demolition of the one-time car showroom will begin on Monday, May 16. Worker have been chipping away at the interior of the building for a couple weeks.
The City of Ketchum administrative offices, planning and building department, police department and fire department recently moved from the building at 480 East Avenue North across from Atkinsons’ Market to new digs at 191 5th Street West. That building is across from La Cabanita.
The Ketchum Fire Department’s new home is at 107 Saddle Road across from the Church of the Big Wood.
Even as City Hall gets torn down, Sun Valley Road running through Ketchum is about to get torn up.
The road reconstruction will include milling and repaving the base of Sun Valley Road and downtown Ketchum pedestrian enhancements. The Sun Valley Road intersection with Saddle and Dollar roads will not be addressed this year.
Workers hope to wrap up the project by the beginning of July. One land of traffic will be open at all time. Detours will be made when necessary.
