The Hailey Public Library will continue its free Noche de Cine en Espanol series at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at Hailey Town Center West.
The library can’t name the movie, but it sounds an awful lot like an award-winning Disney’s movie about the Madrigal family—an extraordinary family who lives hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called the Encanto.
Alas, the magic of the place has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift—except for a young girl named Mirabel. It is this little girl whom the village turns to, however, when they discover the magic surrounding their home is in danger.
The film is rated PG and will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles. Children under 10 years must be accompanied by a guardian.
The library started the monthly, in-person movie night for kids, teens and adults to offer a look at movies that celebrate Hispanic, culture, actors and directors from Mexico and Central and South America.
“We’ve been delighted by the positive response to this series by both adults and kids and look forward to reaching teens with June’s offering--the 1997 biographical musical drama of a famous, Texas-born Latina singing sensation and her tragic death,” said Kristin Fletcher, the library’s programs and engagement manager. “And, yes, we serve popcorn!”
Haley Town Center West is located across from the library in the old Copy & Print store at 116 S. River St.
