Break out the trash bags and pick up the path.

The Blaine County Recreation District is encouraging community groups, families and individuals to celebrate Earth Day Tuesday by participating in the BCRD’s Earth Day Cleanup.

Bring your own bag and enjoy a walk and the views along the way while looking for those litter tidbits that mar the experience. Participants can throw collected trash in trailhead trash cans.

One of the most problematic parts of the 22-mile path stretching from Bellevue to Ketchum is that from Boxcar Bend south to East Fork Road. A power crew stationed itself there all summer and, often, the wind carried plastic lunch boxes and work wraps into the nearby sagebrush. Heck, there’s even a plastic grocery bag stuck in a tree looking onto the Big Wood River below.

Interested groups can coordinate with BCRD’s trail coordinator Ashley Knox at aknox@bcrd.org. Questions? Call 208-578-2273.
