The Blaine County Sheriff has told residents in Rock Creek Road west to evacuate because of the growing Glendale Fire south of Bellevue. This includes Rancho Cielo Road up to and including Red Elephant Gulch Road west of Hailey.

The Blaine County Sheriff also has issued Level 2 Be Set Pre-Evacuation notice for those living out Croy Creek west of Hailey.

Level 2 means there is significant risk and residents should either voluntarily relocate outside the area or be ready to leave with the car pointed out the garage at a moment’s notice. Residents are also asked to maintain situational awareness and leave immediately if they feel they’re in danger.

An airplane is bombing the area with retardant and helicopters are dumping water in the area. The Blaine County Sheriff’s Department got a nice picture of a Very Large Air Tanker (VLAT) making a drop near the 500 block of Glendale Road at about 3 p.m.

West Glendale Road is closed to everyone but residents. There are no evacuation orders at this time, but residents are asked to remain vigilant.

The fire is believed to have been started by lightning before 2 p.m. this afternoon—Monday, Sept. 2. It grew from 400 acres at 4 p.m. to 550 acres at 6:30 p.m., according to Watch Duty.
