Learn about the healing power of plants, permaculture and more when the Hailey Public Library presents a workshop titled “Expanding Mindset on the Garden: Thinking Outside the Bed.”

Herbalist Susie Michael will present the workshop from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Hailey Town Center West adjacent to the library.

She will discuss the advantages of biodiversity, how to select and group plants, soil preparation and composting. Attendees will discover how to transform their yard, large or small, to grow food, medicine and a place of picturesque solace by listening to the land and allowing it to harmonize with nature’s rhythm.

Michael has owned and operated her landscape and garden design business Willowfeather LLC in the Wood River Valley for four decades. Over time she has discovered what she calls the innate multidimensional healing power of plants.

This is the second in a series of three workshops about gardening and wellbeing. The last workshop will cover “Building Relationships with plants for Holistic Health & Happiness: Weeds, Wild Edibles and Garden Medicinals.”
