Lee Pollock is a Winston Churchill expert—director and senior advisor to the Board of The International Churchill Society. Marc Onetto, who grew up in France, is likewise a history buff, particularly when it comes to France and maritime history.

Now, the two Sun Valley men will come together on the stage of The Community Library to present a program titled “Churchill and de Gaulle: Titans at War.”

The program will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5. Reserve a seat to see it in person at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/14425472. Or watch it online at https://vimeo.com/event/5130454/1bb85fde72. The program also will be recorded and available to watch later in the Library archive.

Pollock and Onetto will tell you that both Churchill and de Gaulle embodied the greatness of their respective nations. And both fought to rid Europe of the scourge of fascism during World War II.

But the two men often disagreed and sometimes fought viciously. And the challenges they faced shaped the world we live in today.

“Churchill and de Gaulle are fascinating and iconic figures and had a complicated relationship--harmonious at times, fractured and volatile at others,” said Pollock. “Each recognized in the other the greatness of their nations.”
