Girls on the Run Southern Idaho is looking for volunteer coaches for its upcoming season, which starts Sept. 4.

Coaches will have the opportunity to inspire girls in grades 3–5 to set goals, build self-confidence and develop lifelong healthy habits.

Using a research-based curriculum, coaches lead teams of up to 15 participants twice a week for eight weeks. helping girls work toward the ultimate goal of completing a celebratory 5K. No running experience is required.

“All you need is a passion for encouraging and mentoring young girls. We provide the training and all materials needed for a successful season,” said Teressa Johnson, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Southern Idaho. “Coaching a Girls on the Run team is so much more than lap goals and stretches. It’s about helping girls discover their limitless potential, and you’ll find yourself inspired by their growth along the way.”

Each team is led by multiple coaches to ensure a safe and supportive environment. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, pass a background check, and commit to attending practices once or twice per week.

All volunteer coaches receive comprehensive training covering how to create inclusive environments, foster connections, and support the “whole girl” — mind, body, and spirit.
