Don and Shannon Jackson, who will offer a travel adventure program at Hailey Town West tonight—Thursday, Nov. 6--are no strangers to adventure travel.

Shannon’s delightful book, “Better and Happier Together: Stories of Epic Adventures During Our First Forty Years of Marriage,” recounts dozens of interesting ventures from the 1,200-kilometer Paris-Brest-Paris bicycle race to summiting 20,310—foot Denali in minus-50 degree temperatures to their 2,700-mile bike trip along the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route from Antelope Wells, N.M., to Banff Canada.

Because they were on bicycles and on their own time, Don and Shannon Jackson were able to escape the bus and cruise crowds at the Godafoss Waterfall in northern Iceland.

The couple has added more since, including this year’s bike pack trip through Iceland and last year’s rather harrowing bicycle ride above the Arctic Circle in Alaska.

Though she would not have turned down the Iceland trip for the world, Shannon said it was nice to come home to Sun Valley: “In Iceland, there’s no food, there’s extreme weather…we came home and decided we’ve really got it nice here.”

Catch tonight’s presentation hosted by the Hailey Public Library in Hailey Town Center West at 5:30 p.m.
