Wood River Valley bikers are invited to take part in a bike ride today—Saturday, Jan. 31--in memoriam of Alex Pretti, the Minneapolis ICU nurse who was shot and killed by ICE agents.

The We Ride in Unity ride is part of a worldwide bike ride being held in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis in memoriam of Pretti, who was an avid bicycle rider. It also honors the memory of Renee Good “and everyone impacted by the senseless violence, division and turmoil happening in our country right now,” said organizers.

The ride is sponsored locally by The Elephant’s Perch, Backwoods Mountain Sports and The Trailhead Bicycles.

Riders of all ages are encouraged to gather at 10:30 a.m. at the bike park in Quigley Canyon, ready to roll at 11 a.m. Bicyclists will slowly ride together on the Wood River Trail bike path north towards St. Luke’s Wood River and back to the Quigley bike park with the idea of being back in time to take part in the protest in downtown Hailey at 1 p.m.

The STOP ICE rally will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. today—Saturday, Jan. 31—at the traffic light at Bullion and Main streets.

Katja Burmester said rallygoers will protest “inhumane corrupt enforcement” by ICE agents in Minneapolis and other parts of the country.

“We remain devastated and outraged by the murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by ICE agents—witnessed firsthand and undeniable,” she said. “The lies and denial from Kristi Noem and the White House are immoral, unconstitutional, and unlawful.
