Did you know that cockroaches can hold their breath for up to 40 minutes? Or that fleas can jump a hundred times their own length—the equivalent of us humans jumping one to two football fields?

Learn these fun facts and more when the Sawtooth Botanical Garden holds its annual Bug Zoo Festival.

The garden will entertain classrooms for educational tours Tuesday through Friday. Then, on Saturday, May 16, it will hold the Bug Zoo Festival for everyone.

The annual Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16 at the public garden south of Ketchum at Highway 75 and Gimlet Road.

There’ll be interactive exhibits, live critters for youngsters to hold, face painting and other fun activities. Attendees will be invited to adopt a “Bug” animal with Mountain Humane and nosh on food available for sale.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth 3 to 18. It’s free for those 3 and younger.
