Unfortunately, our crystal ball can’t seem to guarantee how much time we’re going to be sitting in traffic over the rest of the summer
But here’s what we know for sure:
The Idaho Transportation Department is closing access to Elkhorn Road from State Highway 75 from the highway to Boulder Court between Monday, June 15 through Friday, June 19. It will be closed overnight between 9:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. to allow crews to install storm water pipes.
Then, ITD it’ll close Elkhorn Road all day long—that’s 24 hours a day--beginning Monday, July 13, through Friday, Aug. 7, including weekends.
Yup, that’s right during the first half of the Sun Valley Music Festival season. But ITD officials say it will allow crews to complete the reconstruction of the east half of the intersection and Elkhorn Road in 26 days rather than the 84 days it would have taken otherwise.
An emergency coordinator will be present on Elkhorn Road during the closure to allow emergency vehicles to get through the work zone quickly.
Meanwhile, DON’T FORGET that Idaho Power plans to cut power from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, June 15. So, if you can’t put down that book you just checked out from the library, you might want to stock up on candles.
