The White Rabbit will be dancing hip-hop, and Alice will pirouette across the floor when Footlight Dance Centre presents “Alice in Dancerland.”

Two hundred young dancers ranging from 5 years of age to high school seniors will present the iconic story as its spring recital at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 2-3, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Hailey’s Community Campus.

Alice will be danced by Clara Gvozdas and the White Rabbit by Grace Rushton. The two high school seniors will be joined by five other graduating dancers: Ellis Mallett dancing the role of Alice’s sister Lorina; Sarah Leidecker, the Mad Hatter; Leila Brickley, The Queen of Hearts; Natalia Simental, Caterpillar, and Romina Zavala, Flower Princess.

Other leads include Zoey Kolb as March Hare and Cora Ward and Charlotte Brickley as Tweedle Dee and Dum. Three younger students playing key roles are Harper Boullon as Dinah—Alice’s kitten; Georgie Payne as Dormouse and Berkly Peck as The Red Queen.

The performance’s ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop and tap techniques were choreographed by instructors Gabi Bryant, Allani Fostvedt, Robyn Fox, Hayley Henderson, Bronwyn Hanson, Mackenzie King, Hilarie Neely, Leah Taylor, Kassidy Thompson and Anne Winton. Guest choreographer, Austin Fernando choreographed an Advanced Hip Hop piece for the show.

“This is such a fun show. We have an amazing lead cast with seven senior dancers this year, and we’re very excited for them to bring this production to the stage,” said Hilarie Neely, the dance studio’s director.

Tickets are $10, available in advance at Iconoclast Books in Hailey. Independent Goods in Ketchum and Hank & Sylvie’s in both Hailey and Ketchum. Advance purchases are encouraged.

Footlight Dance Centre was founded 41 years ago. Its main studio is in Hailey’s Community Campus. It has satellite studios at Studio Move and the YMCA in Ketchum and at the Grange Hall in Hailey.
