Winter felt more like spring this year in Sun Valley. But the snow continues to remain good on Bald and Dollar mountains.


And now that meteorological spring is in the books spring fun is popping up all over.

Today the Dollar Holler Rail Jam will showcase young athletes of all ages making a statement on skis and boards.


The Community Rail Jam will be held from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today—Friday, March 6—at Dollar Mountain. Skiers from 8 into infinity will vie for first, second and third place prizes in each age group.


On Saturday, March 7, Sun Valley will hold the 14th Annual Baldy Banked Slalom on the Warm Springs side of Bald Mountain.


The event will start at 11 a.m. at the top of Arc Park at the top of Warm Springs. Each competitor gets two timed runs down the winding course filled with rollers, kickers and banked turns.

Trandon Smart is a familiar figure at Dollar Mountain’s Terrain Park.
 

The run ends just before I-80, and the second run time will be kept a secret until the awards ceremony, adding suspense to the competition.


The awards ceremony and after-party will be held at Whiskey’s on Main at 5 p.m.


The Sun Valley Banked Slalom is a qualifier for the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom.
