Awooooooo! George, the mascot at J. McLaughlin, will celebrate his third birthday today. And he’s inviting old and new furry friends to his birthday paw-ty.

All dogs and their human companions are invited to the party, which will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. today—Saturday, April 18—at the dress store at 520 Fourth St. E. across from Atkinsons Market.

There’ll be doggie treats, and human are invited to high five George and give him a treat. A  percentage of sales will go to Unega Mountain Dog Rescue, which rescues Great Pyrenees and Akbash sheepdogs, in honor of Emma, a client’s lab who passed away recently.

George, meanwhile, is a “vacuum cleaner” living his best life with his parents Hannah and Wes Fleuchaus, according to shop owner Sarah Howe.

“Snacks are his life,” she said. “If it fits in his mouth, it’s food. If it doesn’t, he’ll circle back. Then he’ll flop on you like a lap dog and cuddle like a baby as if he didn’t just commit a snack-related crime.”

Out on the White Clouds trails overlooking Sun Valley Resort George is a tireless explorer.

And, when the adventure is over?

“At home he drinks half a lake, collapses and snores like he just worked a double shift at J. McLaughlin,” said Howe.
