Laughing Stock Theater is kicking off a summer season of play readings, a cabaret fundraiser, Shakespeare and summer camp.
The Spring Play Reading Series will feature three comedies:
…April 30—“Plaza Suite,” the Tony Award-winning play by Neil Simon. The play revolves around a hotel where a long-married pair seem destined for an early checkout, where former high school sweethearts seem destined for an extended stay and where a mother and father of the bride are anxious to celebrate their daughter’s pending marriage—if only they can get her out of the bathroom.
Featured actors will be Rachel Aanestadt, Matt Gorby, Matt Musgrove and Aly Wepplo.
…May 14—“Morning’s at Seven,” a Tony Award-winning play by Paul Osborn. The play examines the ramifications within a small Midwestern family in 1928 when four aging sisters begin to question their lives and make changes before it’s too late.
Actors are Kathy and Patsy Wygle, Claudia McCain, Sallie Castle, Bill Nagel, Matt Gorby, Matt Musgrove, David Janeski and Aly Wepplo.
…“May 28—Bedroom Farce,” a Tony Award winning play by Alan Ayckbourn. This play follows four married couples whose lives are complicated when they end up in the same house for a variety of reasons.
Features Patsy Wygle, David Janeski, Aly Wepplo, Will Hemmings, Rachel Aanestadt, Matt Musgrove and Megan Mahoney.
Each play reading will be held at 6 p.m. at Laughing Stock Theater, 491E. 10th Street, Unit A7A. Tickets cost $15 for one play or $40 for all three. The price of admission includes free wine, beer and pretzels.
Laughing Stock Theater will hold its annual COMEDY & CABERET FUNDRAISER at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at The Argyros in Ketchum. The fundraiser, marking 50 years of Laughing Stock Theatre, will include drinks, hors d’oeuvres and performances by Laughing Stock’s talented cadre of actors and singers. Making a guest appearance will be local comedian Mike Murphy.
Tickets are $150.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK returns July 30-Aug. 9 with “As You Like It.” The play, which will be held at Ketchum’s Rotary Park, is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, full of exiled lovers and courtiers who discover forgiveness, reconciliation and true love.
CAMP LITTLE LAUGH will be held June 30-July 11, with the exception of July 4. The two-week summer camp for students will be held at the Sun Valley Community School campus.
