The Sage School in Hailey is hosting an Open House on Wednesday, Jan. 21.

The event, which starts at 6 p.m., offers prospective students and their families, as well as interested community members, the opportunity to learn about the school’s educational model.

The school is built on the philosophy that students are naturally inquisitive and engaged. Students take part in 175 days of field studies, some of which occur across the country. Each student also participates in 422 hours of service.

The school, which has a strong focus on the environment, is intentionally small with about a hundred students in its 6-12 grade program after having opened with 16 eighth through 12th graders students in 2009.

Those attending the Open House will have an opportunity to meet Sage faculty and current students, explore the curriculum and learn about the school’s team teaching, project-based, experiential approach to education.

Attendees will also have the chance to take guided tours of the Sage School campus, which is located in Quigley Canyon.

"We’re excited to welcome interested students and their families to our annual Open House," said Chris McAvoy, Assistant Head of School and Head of Admissions. " Sage is unique in this valley and unique in the country. The best way to understand Sage’s approach to education is to stand in our classrooms and speak directly to students and teachers.”

Those who are unable to attend but would like additional information may schedule an introductory call with Chris McAvoy through the school’s website at https://thesageschool.org/inquire/visit/.
