Put your hula skirt away. There will be no Pond Skim this year.

Sun Valley Resort is closing Dollar Mountain at the end of the day on Sunday, March 22, due to this week’s record-breaking temperatures in the 60s. That’s a week ahead of schedule and a week ahead of the end-of-the-season Dollar Daze and Pond Skim.

Dang! With temperatures approaching 70 degrees, they might not have had to build a pond this year. They could have let the snow melt take its course.

Sun Valley will extend the closing date for Settle Ridge through Easter Sunday, April 5, conditions permitting. It plans to close River Run that day, as well.

The resort plans to close for the season on Sunday, April 12, with the Baldy Bash at Warm Springs Plaza on Saturday, April 11.

Enjoy Apres-Ski Music at River Run Plaza Friday through Sunday, March 20-22. Phunk Shui will perform reggae, funk grooves and country twang on Friday. Shon Sanders & the Four Penny Peep Show will play a mix of guitar, percussion, and horns on Saturday. And Lee Penn Sky will share his storytelling songs on Sunday.

There also will be Apres Ski Music at Warm Springs on Saturday, March 21.

Saturday will also be the annual Mental Health ski Day with Love Like Ky. Five stations spaced across the mountain will offer a simple mental health message, a fun photo moment and raffle entries.

Local mental health representatives will be based at Warm Springs Plaza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will wrap up with a Sober Apres gear raffle and a DJ Alex set starting at 2 p.m.
