A rubber horse toy garnered the curiosity of some inquisitive elk this week at Ted Waddell and Lynn Campion’s home north of Hailey.

The couple’s Bernese Mountain Dogs claimed the ball as their own last year but the wild animals enjoying the lengthening spring days couldn’t help but check it out for themselves  this year.

“I was with them in the garden when these young guys came over to inspect!” said Campion.
