It all starts when an unhappy couple invite their loud, passionate upstairs neighbors over for dinner. Turns out the couple upstairs are swingers. And, yes, they would not turn down a dinner party where they could perhaps proposition the main couple.

In “The Invite,” this leads to awkward comedy and an unsuspected look at commitment leading to the question: Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?.

In the end, the movie examines modern relationships with a surprisingly profound message about love.

The Sun Valley Film Festival will screen “The Invite” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, at The Argyros in Ketchum.

Screenwriter Will McCormack, who has appeared at the Sun Valley Film Festival numerous times, will field questions following the screening.

The film, directed by Olivia Wilde, stars Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton.

Tickets are available at https://svffyearround.eventive.org/schedule/.

“The Invite” is being screened as part of the Sun Valley Film Festival’s Monthly Movie series. The next screening will be “Tony” on Aug. 13.
