We normally think of beavers as submersible creatures happy to take refugee from the world in the ponds and beaver lodges they create. But in the late 1940s Idaho beavers became airborne as Idaho Fish and Game Department removed them from urban areas where they were believed to be creating problems and parachuting them into what is now the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.

Learn the story from Paul Blair, who organized an Airborne Beaver Fest this year and learn some cool beaver trivia from Ashton Wilson, the new director of Ketchum’s Environmental Resource Center, in today’s Eye on Sun Valley video.
