Catching rings while riding skis as you’re pulled by a horse!? What kind of hippie-cowboy event is this???


Ski jøring is an event that combines the heritage of western culture with Nordic sports. It doesn’t matter if you ski or snowboard--anyone can participate and try it out. Costumes are encouraged and western wear is on full display.


Crowds gathered in Bellevue, Idaho, this past weekend to see the Wood River Extreme Ski Jøring Association put together a day full of fun and excitement. Check out the action in today’s Eye on Sun Valley video.


The winners;


Novice—Hollis Lloyd riding Peppy and pulling Tyler Boody, followed by Cole Youren on Bacardi pulling David Ray.


Snowboard—Hollis Lloyd riding Peppy pulling Jakobe Chacon, followed by Katherine Licht riding King Stormy Luck and pulling Akobe Chacon.


Women’s—Kali Castle riding Howard pulling Anastasie Echeverria, followed by Whitney Harvell riding Wrangler pulling Alina Gemza.


Sport--John Hyde on Otis pulling Kurtis Fieguth, followed by Kali Castle on Cinco pulling Kurtis Fieguth.


Open—Harlee Manning on Dexter pulling Cam Fraser, followed by Katherine Licht on Boom Babes Last Rascal pulling Cam Fraser.


Pee Wee for those 5- to 10 years of age—Cara Malone on Zipp pulling Bridger Abel, followed by Luke Mullendore on Brownie pulling Mitch Mullendore.
