Lindsey Vonn and Others Test Sun Valley’s World Class Downhill

Suffice it to say, Wood River Valley residents were heartbroken when race officials called off Saturday’s World Cup Downhill because of gusty winds. Happily, Sun Valley Resort provided Eye on Sun Valley with videos of training runs that Lindsey Vonn and others took on Sun Valley’s challenging World Cup Downhill Friday.

Cameras posted on platforms above the course and a drone followed racers over three bumps, noted John W. Lundin.

One was at the bottom of international at what has been dubbed Durrance Dive after Dick Durrance, the Sun Valley legend who is the only racer to have won the Harriman Cup three times. The largest and most challenging—the Frontier jump—met racers as they made their transition from mid-Warm Springs across the Steilhang traverse onto Upper Hemingway where they were forced to make a hard right and left turn. The third was near the finish.
