Morgan Ballis Wins Sheriff Bid While Blaine County Legislators Fall

Morgan Ballis handily won the bid to become Blaine County Sheriff, and Ketchum residents approved a bill creating a valley-wide fire and EMS consolidation.

And Republicans from Jerome ousted Blaine County’s two incumbents in District 26 legislative races Tuesday, meaning there will be no representatives from Blaine County in the legislature for the first time in more than 25 years.

The results:

LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 26 SENATE SEAT

Ron Taylor-D: 8,164, 43.59%

Laurie Lickley-R: 8,561, 45.71%

KALA TATE-Ind.: 2,005, 10.7%

LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 26 HOUSE SEAT A

Ned Burns-D: 8,709, 46.91%

Mike Pohanka-R: 9,856, 53.09%

LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 26 HOUSE SEAT B

Chris Hansen-D: 8,609, 46.63%

Jack Nelsen-R: 9,855, 53.37%

BLAINE COUNTY SHERIFF

Morgan Ballis-D: 7,515, 73.38%

Aaron Hughston-R: 2,725, 26.62%

BELLEVUE CITY COUNCIL, with three seats up for grabs

Genoa Beiser:215, 9.15%

John Carreiro: 469, 19.95%

Tammy Davis: 631, 26.84%

Jessica Obenauf: 559, 23.78%

Suzanne Wrede: 477, 20.29%

KETCHUM FIRE CONSOLIDATION, which would create valley-wide fire and EMS consolidation

Yes: 1,225, 71.06%

No: 499, 28.94%

PROPOSITION ONE, which would establish open primaries and ranked-choice voting

Yes: 246,610, 30.66%

No: 557,607, 69.34%

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT RE CITIZENSHIP VOTING

Yes: 517,048, 64.72%

No:281,902, 35.28%
