NBC Sports Broadcaster and former downhill ski racer Steve Porino will offer a look inside the life of a commentator on World Cup ski races at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at The Community Library.

Porino is a former U.S. Ski Team downhill racer. He started skiing at 3, began racing at 6 and at 14 he enrolled in the Burke Mountain Ski Academy in Burke, Vt.  He joined the U.S. Ski team as a downhill racer in 1988 and raced for the team until 1992.

He then coached the Snowbird Ski Team in Utah from 1993 to 1996 while completing his communications degree at the University of Utah. He has been a member of the NBC Olympic team since the 2002 Salt Lake City games and has been part of NBC’s World Cup and World Championship broadcasts since 1997.

He spends cycling season on the back of a motorcycle covering the Tour de France and other bike races for NBC Sports.

Porino will be joined on stage with Jake Moe, founder of POWDER magazine.

The presentation is the second in the Wood River Museum of History + Culture’s talks leading up to the 2025 Audi FIS World Cup Finals in Sun Valley March 20-27.

All the seats have been spoken for but a waiting list is being compiled at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/13749790. The program also is being livestreamed and available to watch at https://vimeo.com/event/4879919.
