Laughing Stock Theatre is bringing back “The Foreigner” for an encore performance.

The hilarious play by Larry Shue was staged as a play reading a couple weeks ago, and tickets sold out in two hours so the long-running theater company decided an encore was in order.

This play reading will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Laughing Stock’s intimate theater at 491 E. 10th St., across from the Knob Hill Inn in Ketchum.

The play, first performed in 1983, won multiple awards, including two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best New American play.

“The Foreigner” is about a shy Englishman who pretends not to speak English at a rural Georgia fishing lodge. In doing so, he eavesdrops on a number of secrets leading him to foil the plans of a villainous minister.

The play reading features Matt Gorby, Will Hemmings, David Janeski, Claudia McCain, Matt Musgrove, Bill Nagel and Aly Wepplo.

Tickets are $15 and include free wine, beer and pretzels. Tickets are available at https://www.laughingstocktheater.com/events/the-foreigner-play-reading-series.
