Good news for taxpayers!

Blaine County School District taxpayers will see a significantly reduced impact from the supplemental levy approved by voters in May, thanks to a significant increase in Blaine County’s market value and a state tax relief profvision.

The actual tax will be $0.87 per $100,000 of assessed market value—far lower than the projected $8.53.

Voters in the Blaine County School District approved a two-year, $1.85 million annual supplemental levy for the district in May 2024. Thanks to Idaho’s tax relief statute, the state will cover $1,656,017 annually, leaving only $193,983 to be covered by local taxpayers.

“We are pleased to share with our community that the tax impact of the recently approved supplemental levy will be significantly lower than we initially expected,” said Superintendent Jim Foudy. “We sincerely appreciate the support we’ve received from our community, and we know this is welcome news for local taxpayers. With this tax relief, we can fund key district initiatives with a much lower burden on our community.”

Funds from the supplemental levy will support competitive salaries and benefits across key programs in the district, including the Gifted and Talented Program, preschool, half of kindergarten, and summer school.

The levy will be in effect from July 1, 2024, through the end of the 2025-26 school year.
