STORY AND PHOTOS BY KAREN BOSSICK

Hope you’re gorging on the bonanza of yellows, oranges and reds that have colored the Wood River Valley.

This fall’s dazzling colors decorating the aspen and cottonwoods more than makes up for last spring’s somewhat lackluster wildflower scene.

The valley is resplendent right now, whether you take a bike ride out Trail Creek Road, a hike through Greenhorn, or a drive between Hailey and Ketchum.

These tall skinny aspen sport a two-toned green and yellow look on the Fox Creek loop.

And whoever landscaped the Old Cutters neighborhood in Hailey is to be applauded for their judicious planting of red maples in among other trees.

But be quick. Although many trees still remain green, the leaves have begun to fall, and soon the leaves will be but a memory.

Of course, then we’ll be enjoying the freshness of the year’s first snowfall.
