Grumpy’s beer schooners have always been known for their bigness. But one topped out at 6 feet on Halloween night.

Mike Howard, long reputed to be one of the most creative Halloween costume designers in Ketchum, showed up to the Halloween Party at The Argyros Thursday, his plastic foam surrounding his head and a golden-colored schooner depicting bubbles over his white tights.

“Got to keep the Grumpy’s tradition alive,” said Howard, who works for the Sawtooth Society when he’s not dreaming up Halloween costumes.

Twenty-six Ketchum businesses and organizations opened their doors to trick-or-treaters Halloween night in a Trick-or-Treat on Main Street organized by Whiskey's on Main.

It was the first time Ketchum merchants have organized like that in the past 25 years. And, while the numbers didn’t match the hundreds of youngsters who turn out for Halloween Hoopla in Hailey each year, participants were happy with the results for the first such venture.

We were told to expect 50 trick-or-treaters this first time around and I think we’ve gotten a hundred,” said Adele Doneen, who was appear as a stegosaurus with her officer partners Riley Kilmartin-Schmidt and Cory Graham at Sotheby’s.
