Parttime Sun Valley resident Evette Davis has penned a tale of a group of supernatural beings who interfere in politics to help protect humanity.

Davis will read from her newly published sci-fi/fantasy story “The Others” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Hailey Town Center West, 116 S. River St. And she’ll discuss the blurry lines between fact and fiction in contemporary politics that inspired the book.

She also will discuss her book, “48 States,” which features a local Hailey resident as the heroine who save the country. The book was a quarter-finalist for the 2023 Publisher’s Weekly Book Life prize and was named one of the Best Indie books of 2022 by Kirkus Reviews.

Davis has written several books, including “Dark Horse,” about a supernaturally gifted woman-soldier who finds a vampire on her tail while in assignment in Eastern Europe following a brutal act of terrorism. “The Others” is the first installment in an original new fantasy series of “The Council Trilogy.”

She is a member of the board of Litquake, an annual literary festival held in San Francisco, where she lives when not in Sun Valley. The Friends of the San Francisco Public Library has honored her as a Library Laureate in 2017 and 2023 and her work ha been published in Writer’s Digest.

Books will be available for purchase at the event.
