How do we maintain our cherished community in the face of growth?

The Spur Community Foundation will host a special event—“Maintaining Community Bonds Amidst Growth and Change”—at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Ketchum’s Community Library.

Danya Rumore will facilitate the dialogue about the true meaning of community and what we can do to safeguard what keeps us connected as new development, increased traffic and population growth challenge that sense of connection.

Rumore is the director of the Wallace Stegner Center Environmental Dispute Resolution Program. Based in Salt Lake City, she works and researches effective collaborate decision-making and teaches courses on collaboration, negotiation, and dispute resolution and effective communication for college students, government agencies and NGOs.

She is presenting a discussion Tuesday night for the Wood River Land Trust on how to mitigate transportation, habitat, water community housing and livability challenges in the face of growth. That presentation is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at The Community Library.

“Maintaining Community Bonds” is the fourth in Spur’s “Giving Thought” Learning Series that’s part of “It’s in Our Nature” campaign to promote the role generosity and nonprofits play in the community.

To attend Wednesday’s presentation in person, reserve your seat at https://thecommunitylibrary.libcal.com/event/12837751. The presentation will be livestreamed and available to watch later at https://vimeo.com/event/4813489.
