Newsboys—one of the most enduring bands in Christian rock--will present a concert benefitting Higher Ground at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 17.

The concert, which will also feature Rabbi Jason Sobel, Alicia Harris Josh Kauffman-Daelsson and Miriam Webster Sobel, will be held at the Church of the Big Wood across from the Wood River YMCA in Ketchum.

Newsboys started in Australia and rose to popularity during the 1990s. They topped the charts with hits like “We Believe,” “Magnetic,” “Born Again” and the Platinum-certified mega hit “God’s Not Dead.”

The group has four Grammy nominations, two American Music Awards and multiple Gospel Music Association Dove awards.

The band opened a new chapter when longtime friend and fellow musician Adam Agee joined it in late 2022, spurring them to fresh new sounds with the band’s 2024 album “Worldwide Revival.”

“We do what we do because it’s a calling,” said Newsboys keyboardist Jeff Frankenstein. “If we didn’t feel that deep sense of purpose, we couldn’t keep going. We have families, loved ones, and friends that we leave behind every time we head out to play a show, write music, or spend hours in the studio. The time and energy we invest is immense, but it’s worth every bit of it because we know we’re called to share the good news through this music.”

One of Higher Ground’s donors is underwriting the band to benefit the first responders that the nonprofit organization serves through therapeutic recreation programs.

“She just recently moved here from Nashville where she knows a lot of bands and she wants to bring music to the valley,” said Erin Rheinschild, director of philanthropy for Higher Ground. “She has a faith-based foundation and wants to launch an annual concert here called ‘Sun Valley Spirit live.’ ”

The Newsboys are one of the first Christian bands that started 40 years ago in Australia.

Tickets are $25, available at https://www.classy.org/event/newsboys/e672671/register/new/select-tickets. VIP tickets available for $100 include a Meet and Greet with the band and front row seats.
