Calling all fun-loving women who want to kick up their heels for a cause.
A Girls Just Wanna Have Fun-damental Human Rights funk-raiser will be held Wednesday, June 4, at The Argyros in Ketchum.
The high-energy party is on from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Women are encouraged to “get your girl squad” for a safe, woman-centered night raising funds to restore reproductive freedom in Idaho.
Organizers promise music provided by DJ Effy K and opportunities for collective action. Tickets are $50, available at https://www.theargyros.org/.
Proceeds will benefit Idahoans United for Women & Families, an Idaho-based 501c4 organization whose mission is to advocate for and restore access to comprehensive reproductive health care while promoting the well-being of women, children, and families in Idaho.
“In a time when our fundamental rights are being stripped away, we’re choosing joy as resistance,” said Amanda Porino, event organizer and founder of Organic Events, which is putting the event on. “We may hold differing personal beliefs about reproductive health, but our choices should not be determined by the government.”
Added Melanie Folwell, executive director of Idahoans United for Women and Families: “Idaho women and their families deserve the dignity to make private medical decisions with their doctors, not the government. Our initiative, the Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act, will restore Idaho to the personal liberty and level of healthcare privacy we had for nearly 50 years.”
Sponsors include Ketchum Family Medicine, Wiled Rye and Wood River Wellness Institute.
