The Papoose Club will hold its annual Plant Extravaganza from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 7. The sale will be at both Webb Garden Centers—the one at 891 Washington Ave. in Ketchum and the one at 162 Glendale Road in Bellevue.

The event is one of three fundraisers the Papoose Club holds every year to raise money for nonprofit organizations providing cultural, social, educational and athletic activities for Blaine County youth.

The others are the Wagon Days Pancake Breakfast and the Holiday Bazaar.

Webb has a host of plants suitable to the Wood River Valley that can transform a backyard and add colorful accents to homes. It also offers unique home and garden merchandise.

The Papoose Club first started selling plants on vacant lots in Ketchum in 1961. Initially, volunteers trucked plants up from the Magic Valley. But, as the popularity of the event grew, the club enlisted local gardening businesses in the effort.

Webb Garden Centers has been partnering with the club for many years, donating a portion of sales during the event to the Club.

The Papoose Club was founded 70 years ago in 1954 as a babysitting co-op for Moms who took turn looking after one another’s children while they skied. It quickly evolved into an organization designed to better the lives of young people in the valley.
