Direct flights from Phoenix and Chicago will mark the 2025-26 winter season flight schedule at Friedman Memorial Airport.
There will be daily nonstop flights to seven cities—Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle and Salt Lake City—on the SUN schedule.
American Airlines will inaugurate the new daily nonstop service from Phoenix (PHX) and Chicago (ORD) on Dec. 18. It is the first time American Airlines has operated out of the Hailey airport, and it will mean more service options for SUN travelers.
The Chicago flights will run daily Dec. 18 through April 6, and the Phoenix flight will run daily during that period, with the exception of Jan. 6 through Feb. 11, when it will run five times a week.
“American is excited to offer brand new service to Sun Valley. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard our aircraft and offering seamless connections to more than 150 destinations around the world,” said Jordan Pack, American’s Director of Domestic Network Planning.
Delta Air Lines, which serves Sun Valley year-round, will offer three daily nonstop flights from Salt Lake City (SLC). It will offer a nonstop flight from Seattle (SEA) daily from Dec. 20 through Jan. 5 and three times weekly from Feb. 13 through March 29. It will have a nonstop flight from Los Angeles (LAX) on Saturdays from Dec. 20 through March 28.
United Airlines will increase its daily year-round nonstop service from Denver (DEN) to two flights daily from Dec. 10 through April 5. It will offer daily nonstop flights from Chicago (ORD) from Dec. 18 through April 5.
United will expand its service to Los Angeles (LAX) to run daily Dec. 3-8, and then from Dec. 11 through April 5, with an additional daily flight from Dec. 18 through Jan. 5, and on weekends from Jan. 16 – April 5.
United’s San Francisco (SFO) flights will run daily from Dec. 11 through April 5 with a second daily flight Dec. 18 through January 5 and on weekends from Jan. 9 through April 5.
Alaska Airlines, which flies nonstop from Seattle (SEA), will offer two weekly flights from Nov. 2 through December 14, increasing to daily flights from Dec. 18 through April 21, with additional daily flights two to four times a week from Dec. 18 through March 8.
“This winter our local residents and visitors will have more air access options than ever at SUN due to the new service and routes offered by American Airlines and increased frequency on most of the existing routes,” said Carol Waller, executive director of Fly Sun Valley Alliance.
Fly Sun Valley Alliance worked with Sun Valley Resort and the Friedman Memorial Airport to secure the flights.
