In 2018 Ketchum filmmaker Kim Frnak traveled to North Bengal where she came front to front with the daily conflict going on between the people of the eastern Himalaya and the large Asian elephants who live there.
In response, she wrote the book “Elephants in the Hourglass,” which describes how more than 500 people and 100 elephants die each year, many of the elephants in traffic accidents as their migration routes are severed.
And now she has a new film, “Where the Forest Roars,” set in the land that borders Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
Frank will show the 51-minute film at 5 p.m. Monday Dec. 22, at The Community Library in Ketchum. And, afterwards, she and Anthony Geffen, who produced “The Wildest Dream” about two mountaineers recreating George Mallory’s ill-fated attempt to summit Mount Everest, will field questions.
