Blaine County Recreation District is encouraging Wood River Valley residents to celebrate Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, by picking up trash along the 20-plus mile Wood River Trail, also known as the bike path.

“It’s a simple way for individuals, families and groups to get outside and give back by helping keep the trail clean and welcoming for everyone,” said Jeremy Greenberg, communications manager for BCRD.

Adults and children alike are encouraged to grab a bag and fill it with the cans, construction plastic and other litter that accumulated on the trail over the winter. The trash can be left in a trailhead trash can stationed along the trail.

Groups interested in organizing a cleanup effort can contact the BCRD’s trail manager Ashley Knox at aknox@bcrd.org for help with planning and supplies. Questions? Contact 208-578-2273.

Of course, the weather is not looking promising on Wednesday with a mix of rain and snow in the forecast. But who’s to say you can’t do your part on Friday or even over the weekend!
