Can you cross a teeter totter bridge on your bicycle and navigate your way around a series of traffic cones without hitting one?

Check your bike skills at the 15th annual Bike Rodeo on Saturday.

The free Bike Rodeo, presented by the City of Ketchum and Environmental Resource Center, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today—Saturday, May 16—in the Wood River YMCA’s parking lot abutting Bonni’s Greenhouse.

Representatives of Blaine County Sheriff’s Department and D.L. Evans Bank will be on hand to fit helmets and help youngsters—and adults—decorate their bikes. Ketchum Police will  educate riders about bike safety and escort them through an obstacle course where bikers will learn how to navigate water and more.

There will be prizes and snacks and furry friends on leashes are welcome to cheer riders on.

PUTT AROUND

Today also brings an event that was conceived to spice up slack season—the Ketchum Wide Open.

Grab your putter, don your best chicken suit and join others in golfing at one-time mini-golf holes created by various establishments such as The Argyros and The Cellar Pub.

The event will kick off with registration at 11 a.m. at The Argyros. Play starts at noon, and golfers will have until 5 p.m. to make the rounds with awards handed out at 5:30 p.m.

Participating restaurants and bars include The Argyros, Casino, Whiskey’s, Warfield, Smoky Mountain Pizza, The Cellar Pub, The Kneadery, Johnny G’s Subshack, Lefty’s, Sawtooth Brewery, Grumpy’s and FRX chicken sando’s across from Backwoods Mountain Sports.

Entry fee is $30 for a team of two with the money going to the Blaine County Charitable Fund. There are prizes for a variety of categories including Best Costume, Best Hole, Best Score counting the best seven holes played, The Golfer Who Traveled the Farthest to Play, Youngest and Oldest Golfers.
