Cubby West Spain is a western artist with a knack for line work and contemporary flare. A watercolor teacher, she loves to channel her love for the outdoors and her local surroundings into her wild paintings.
Her staple art pieces are heavily influenced by the pioneers, the cowboy culture and the American bison. She hopes her art will inspire others to be better stewards of our country and the wildlife that lives alongside us.
Spain is one of 40 artists opening their studios for the public today—Saturday, Aug. 19—as part of the Artists’ Studio Tour of the Wood River Valley. The free DIY tour takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can catch Spain in her studio at 270 Northwood Way in Ketchum. Pick up a map while there, or go to https://artiststudiotour.com/.
