Kirk Wallace Johnson Discusses ‘The Feather Thief’

Saturday, October 26, 2019

Kirk Wallace Johnson couldn’t resist telling the fascinating story of a young fly-tying enthusiast who stole centuries-old bird specimens from the British Royal Museum, selling them underground to finance a new trumpet.

Eye on Sun Valley’s Lori McNee talked with Johnson about his book “The Feather Thief’ while he was in Ketchum to kick off the Sun Valley Center for the Arts’ 2019-20 lecture series.

The lecture, held in conjunction with a BIG IDEA project looking at the marketplace then and now, will be followed with a lecture featuring Cheryl Strayed, author of “Wild,” on Jan. 30. John Carreyrou, author of “Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup,” will speak on March 10.
