Master Impressionist Claude Monet lived for 43 years from 1883 to 1926 in Giverny, France, a bustling resort town by day and a quiet hamlet at night. He had a passion for gardening and colors and conceived his flower garden and water garden as works of art in themselves.
Sun Valley artist Lori McNee received a coveted invitation to teach a painting in his garden in September 2018. She and 10 students painted at the iconic bridge and by his water garden early in the morning before the public was allowed in and in the evening after closing hours.
And in between they dined among original paintings in Madame Baudy’s hotel, which long ago welcomed such painters as Monet, Cezanne, Rodine and Renoir.
