The Sun Valley Film Festival will host a free community screening of some of the best LGBTQ+ shorts the festival has screened over the years in honor of Pride Month.
The Celebrate Pride Shorts Program will start at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, at The Argyros in Ketchum. The collection ranges from charming comedies to surreal thrillers.
Featured films include “Frankie, Underwater” and Shimmer” from the 2024 Sun Valley Film Festival, “Ringing Rocks” from the 2023 Sun Valley Film Festival and “Flesh” from the 2020 film festival.
“Ringing Rocks” follows a caring young man named Anson who takes his boyfriend on a one-night getaway to an elegant desert resort to help his partner recover from a spiral into paranoid delusions. But by morning the strangeness of the place has infected Anson with a paranoia of his very own. For better or worse, he comes to see the world through Cliff’s eyes.
”Shimmer” follows a doctor who schedules a young girl’s kidney transplant on the same day he is to compete at the Miss International National USA pageant. But things go awry when the doctor wins. And “Frankie, Underwater” revolves around a young girl who is confronted with puberty over summer break.
Although the festival is free, reservations are encouraged at www.sunvalleyfilmfestival.org.
