STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK

It was, perhaps, fitting that those seated in the pews of St. Thomas Episcopal Church could look out the triangular window at the front of the church to see the lights of snow groomers working their way to the top of Bald Mountain in the distance.

“We are celebrating the season of light,” said the Rev. Kathleen Beana light that guided the Wise Men….the light of Christ.”

The church filled as the church welcomed Hispanic families into the sanctuary to take part in Epiphany, which celebrates the journey of the Three Wise Men who followed a star in the East to find the Christ Child.

These amazing men had the inspiration to look up, according to Bean: “God can be found in amazing places and unexpected places.”

We can all be part of this epiphany, she added, by surprising someone by being kind, by sharing your lunch, by opening the door for someone….

The service was followed by breaking bread together over Peruvian chicken, tamales, fruit and lettuce salad and Bingo, the cards part of gift bags that were handed out to those in attendance.

Sun Valley Community School and Wood River High School students from The Community Table prepared the meal, while additional youth took part in the service.

Also assisting in Dia De los Reyes, or Day of the Kings, was Herbert and Mary Romero of Neighbors Helping Neighbors. They were among the founders of the event with St. Thomas and The Community Table.
