Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s U12 team climbed the podium five times at the conclusion of the North Series Giant Slalom races held this past weekend at Grand Targhee.
Alta Questad brought home gold on Saturday and then did it again on Sunday. Alex Grant came in third for the boys on Saturday before bringing home the gold on Sunday. Halsten Bruun took third in the boy’s competition on Sunday.
The Jan. 11-12 Intermountain Division competition, always one of the team’s favorite away races, saw snowy conditions both days. There was fog, powder skiing, crashes, lost skis, pool parties and BBQs in the finish area. And, mostly important, the team had a lot of fun.
"We saw some great skiing with the results to prove it from everyone, along with some amazing powder skiing as well,” SVSEF Alpine North Series Head Coach Claudia Stern told SVSEF’s Heather Foster, SVSEF’s communications director. “The staff are all super proud of the kids’ skiing, their team spirit, and their positive attitudes throughout the weekend—there was lots of cheering and helping out their teammates to get ready for their runs."
