Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation athletes were among 150 athletes competing in at the 80th Annual Chris bodily Memorial 4-Way Races in McCall this past weekend.

The SVSEF Alpine U12 North Series Team traveled to McCall this past weekend to compete in four disciplines at two venues over three days--Slalom, Giant Slalom, Gelande Ski Jump and Cross Country Freestyle Sprint.

This year’s McCall 4-Way also served as the North Series IMD Qualifier event.

On Friday evening, athletes competed in the Slalom race at Little Ski Hill. Saturday was a multi-event day with the Gelande Ski Jump followed by a Cross-Country Freestyle Sprint. The athletes finished the weekend with a Giant Slalom race on Sunday at Brundage Mountain.

Each leg of the event counts towards the overall standings. SVSEF U12 athlete Alex Grant won the overall for the weekend, based on his performance in the Slalom, Gelande Ski Jump, Cross Country Freestyle Sprint and Giant Slalom. He nabbed a gold medal and three silver medals in the quest.

Chase Martens nabbed two gold medals, as did Alta Questad

Others placed consistently in the top 10 through each event.

“It was a fantastic weekend for all!” said Claudia Stern, SVSEF Alpine U12 North Series Team Head Coach. “There were lots of podiums and personal bests and unbelievable improvements all around. We saw grit and determination with kids challenging themselves in difficult stormy conditions, as well as overcoming fear as they launched down the Gelande Ski Jump!”

The event is one of the kids’ favorite events of the year.
