The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office will unveil its new USS Idaho SSN 799 patrol vehicle, dubbed the “Gem of the Fleet” during a ceremony honoring Idaho’s new submarine on Monday.

The USS Idaho SSN 799 ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the Blaine County Public Safety Facility at 1650 Aviation Drive in Hailey.

It will include a Marine Corps birthday and cake cutting ceremony, the patrol car reveal and a few brief remarks by the Gem of the Fleet Operator, USS Idaho Commissioning committee. A Law Enforcement Veteran Recognition will close the ceremony.

The week of Nov. 10 through Nov. 16 has been declared USS Idaho SSN 799 Week in Blaine County, said Blaine County Sheriff Morgan Ballis.

It honors the new Virginia Class nuclear-powered fast attack submarine named the USS Idaho, SSN 799. The submarine was christened in 2024 and will be commissioned in 2026.
