Latin Champion and ballroom coach Vasily Golovin will teach the salsa, cha-cha and other ballroom dances at Whiskey’s on Main on Wednesdays beginning March 18.

Dance instructions will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by open dance until 9.

Lessons are $40, payable in cash or by check, and include one drink ticket. A sign-up sheet will be available at Whiskey’s on Main, and guests can purchase additional one-on-one dance instruction beyond Wednesdays.

Dancers interested in private lessons can purchase a packet of three during the initial period at a reduced rate. Whiskey’s on Main is providing a space for group sessions, open dancing and private lessons.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with Sun Valley Ballroom to launch Wednesdays at Whiskey’s: Lessons & Libations,” said Whiskey’s on Main’s General Manager, Adam Stine. “Creating space on our upstairs dance floor for lessons and social dancing is a natural extension of what we do—bringing people together for memorable, high-energy experiences in the heart of Ketchum.”

Golovin, who was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, began training at 9 with some of the world’s top ballroom coaches. He has competed internationally for more than 20 years, winning such titles as Russian National Champion, European Champion and Latin World Champion.

He also has won the Top Teaching award in several California competition, he and his wife Alexis visited Idaho on vacation and fell in love with the state moving here in 2023.

Golovin co-produced the 2025 Sun Valley Ballroom performance held at The Argyros last fall. Sun Valley Ballroom will return on Saturday, Aug. 22, at The Argyros.

He is based in Boise where he teaches at the Idaho Ballroom Dance Center. He also travels to Ketchum weekly to teach classes at Studio Move.

“Dancing is a wonderful lifelong activity to learn, to ease stress, or just to have fun,” said Golovin.
