Take part in a Game Night exploring Child Development from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight.

The Spur Community Foundation is presenting “Building Brains & Community: A Game Night Exploring Child Development from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight—Wednesday, April 8—at the Limelight Hotel Ketchum.

Those taking part in the free event will learn how a child’s brain develops via a hands-on Brain Architecture Game led by Florina Ruvio, a parent peer support specialist.

The game was developed by the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University. Its purpose is to show how adults can support relationships that strengthen children’s development and how adversity can affect learning, behavior and long-term health.

The event is designed for anyone interested in supporting the well-being of young people in the Wood River Valley, including parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches and counselors.

Though free, registration is recommended at https://spur.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/list/event?event_date_id=2023. Pizza and salad will be served.

“This activity makes invisible aspects of brain development visible,” said Sally Gillespie, Executive Director of Spur Community Foundation. “Our community cares deeply about the well-being of young people. Understanding what shapes healthy development helps all of us support stronger futures for local children.”

The Spur Community Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to inspiring effective philanthropy in the Wood River Valley. The Brain Architecture Game exercise is part of its Giving Thought Learning Series.
