Get yet another take on Cuba when Ketchum residents Connie and Gary Hoffman present “Cuba—Queues and Cues.”
The free show will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Ketchum’s Community Library.
Gary, a retired pediatrician, and Connie, a retired nurse, recently spent a self-guided month traveling much of Cuba in January. They went from east to west and south to north by bicycle and private car.
Nine different families hosted them in their Casa Particulares, the Cuban version of bed and breakfasts.
The Hoffmans visited schools, shops, museums and even a veterinarian clinic. They immersed themselves in Cuban art, music and dance.
They provided some medical consultation at hospitals and clinics. And they helped the locals start several new businesses, including a bicycle repair and rental shop, a fly-trap production company and five different farms in the countryside.
“We have zealously pared the thousand-plus photos we took down to the best 200 most representative of what we experienced and learned,” said Gary.
