Gather around for a night of storytelling Thursday night at Sun Valley Brewing Company in Hailey.
The Sun Valley Center for the Arts is teaming up with Idaho BaseCamp to present an evening of storytelling from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9.
Anyone who would like to tell a story that night is invited to do so, provided they arrive before 5:50 p.m. to register. Those who took part in a storytelling workshop hosted by The Center and led by Boisean Matthew Melton of “Story Story Night” will be invited to participate, as well.
Each story will be limited to five minutes.
The evening’s stories will be hosted by Mat Gershater, founder of Idaho BaseCamp an outdoor adventure and environmental education organization which has facilities near Mackay. Gershater is also the co-founder of The Humming Bull, a storytelling competition founded a few years ago.
The Center wanted to host an evening of storytelling as part of its current BIG IDEA project, “The Unreliable Narrator,” which explores the power of the storyteller. And it made sense to partner with Mat and Whitney Gershater, rather than re-invent the wheel, said Kristine Bretall, director of performing arts for The Center.
”We hope even those who are new to storytelling might be…brave and jump in to tell a story,” she added.
Admission is $10 for Center members and $12 for nonmembers. All ages are welcome.
