Santa’s helpers in the Wood River Valley are gearing up to send cheer to Marines stationed in Afghanistan.
They’re partnering with Blue Star Mothers of Boise and the Veterans of Foreign Wars to send 150 boxes to deployed men and women overseas.
Those who would like to contribute are invited to drop off donations at two sites on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Leslie Silva says they’ll be receiving donations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 220 Cottonwood St., in Ketchum on that day. They’ll receive donations at The Senior Connection, 721 3rd Ave. S., in Hailey from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Santa’s wish list includes snacks, such as beef jerky, beef sticks, summer sausage, foil pouches containing chicken, tuna and salmon, nuts, trail mix and sunflower seeds, energy bars, Rice Krispy treats, cheese and peanut butter crackers, processed cheese, individual size servings of coffee or K-cups, drink mix powders such as sticks of Crystal Light and Tang, popcorn, fruit roll-ups, small pull-top cans of fruit, dried fruit, soup to go, hard candy, gum and licorice.
Travel-size toiletries are also needed, such as nasal spray, eye wash, anti-bacterial wipes, foot powder, lip balm, Advil or Tylenol, small toothpastes and razors.
Also wanted: LED flashlights and batteries and iTune cards.
